ALL CLEANSER INGREDIENT’S
Rose Hydrosol
Rose hydrosol is the by-product of essential oil production and is created from the water that is used to steam distilled plant materials. In this process, the whole plant is used rather than just the rose petals. It is specially produced for quality and is much more likely to retain its natural minerals than rose water. Retaining moisture in the skin and providing deep hydration. Some of the benefits include:
Lifting dirt and oil from the skin (due to their astringent properties)
Helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines
Softening and toning the skin
Soothing irritated, dry skin
Orange Blossom Water
Orange Blossom Water is a by-product extracted from the distillation process of essential oil from fresh blossoms of the bitter orange tree. It acts as a toner for your skin. If you have dry skin, it can help repair your skin, with its combination of rich calcium which contributes to antioxidant production. If oily skin, the orange blossom will control the excess oil production wherever you apply it, by the ample amounts of Vitamin C and antioxidants included in it. Orange blossom can remove the dirt and dead cells of your skin and afterward keeps your skin toned and moisturized and even your skin tone. For instance, it can lighten the dark spots in your skin and help to fade them with time. And this affects removing blackheads too.
Lavender Hydrosol
Lavender hydrosol comes from the steam distillation of fresh fragrant lavender flowers. It is refreshing, cooling, and soothing and suitable for all skin types, even the most sensitive ones. That’s partly because the hydrosol actually has a really mild scent of lavender, almost herbaceous, not a strong one like you’d expect. This makes it very gentle and safe to use for those with allergies, scent irritations, acne, and rosacea. Some of the benefits include:
An excellent anti-irritant, & great for sensitive skin.
Strong sedative & relaxant properties.
A Cleanser. The word lavender comes from the Latin word lavare which means to clean.
Anti-inflammatory/Bacterial properties fight all kinds of strains of bacteria.
Aloe Vera Juice
Aloe vera contains more than 75 potentially active components, including vitamins, minerals, saccharides, amino acids, and enzymes. It is these components that give aloe its therapeutic potential. The plant is commonly used for burns, wounds, digestive concerns, skin and hair health, and inflammatory issues. When aloe vera is used on burns, it prevents UV-induced suppression so the area can heal at a faster rate.
Vegetable Glycerin
It is well known that Glycerin can form a defensive layer between your skin and the environment, making it good for conditions like eczema or acne. These issues often result in extreme itchiness, so glycerin can reduce the sensation of itchiness and thus prevent additional inflammation, Due to its humectant properties, any topical substance that contains glycerin will help to keep the skin hydrated, as it attracts moisture, and is used to lessen the appearance of scars.
Sodium Lactate
Sodium lactate is a natural constituent of the uppermost layer of skin as a part of the NMF (Natural Moisturizing Factor). In cosmetics and personal care products, sodium lactate functions as a preservative enhancer, buffering agent, and humectant moisturizer. This means that it stops bacteria from reproducing, it will help establish and hold the pH of a product and as a humectant, it helps keep the skin hydrated.
Witch Hazel
Best known for shrinking pores and easing inflammation, Witch hazel is a rich source of constricting compounds that make the proteins inside skin cells come together. The polyphenols Witch Hazel contains may help fight premature aging. The natural tannins also contained in Witch Hazel may temporarily calm the appearance of red, irritated, or blotchy skin and the antimicrobial properties of those tannins can reduce bacterial growth on the skin.
Panthenol
Panthenol is a provitamin of B5 which means that the body will convert it into vitamin B5. Panthenol is a great ingredient for moisturizers shampoos and conditions as it binds and holds water in the skin. Hydrated skin helps to improve the plumpness and visible elasticity of the skin. Panthenol is a humectant, which refers to the ability to hold and bind to water. The benefits that panthenol provides to the skin barrier may also help to support wound healing. Contrary to popular belief the skin heals better when it is soft and hydrated.
Silk Amino Acids/Proteins
Silk amino acids, also known as silk protein or Hydrolysed Silk, are jelly-like proteins that bind the tiny fibers in silk. They are used to help prevent dehydration of the skin and help strengthen hair. These acids have a low molecular weight, which allows them to be easily absorbed deep into the layers of skin and hair creating a defense against dryness and moisture loss. Some studies have shown that these SAAs have antioxidant effects and have been shown to combat wrinkles. Is a naturally hygroscopic material. (Adj. of a substance; tending to absorb moisture from the air.) it provides excellent moisturizing and conditioning qualities. SAAs can give the skin a very soft, smooth velvety feel when used in things like lotions and hand creams.
Propanediol 1,3
Propanediol is a natural emollient that moisturizes the skin when applied topically. It works to reduce water loss, leaving your skin feeling softer. It works as a natural preservative in skincare and body products. It can increase the shelf life of products and promote lasting freshness. The chemical works as a penetration enhancer by altering the skin’s structure. This allows for other ingredients in the skincare product to get deeper into the layers.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
Cocoamidopropyl betaine’s main function is as a surfactant or cleansing ingredient. This compound behaves like most cleansing agents by mixing with oil, water, and dirt to be rinsed off. While rubbing the skin with water, produces foam that moisturizes our skin. Unlike other synthetic surfactants, it is extracted from coconut.
Honeyquat
Honeyquat 50 is made by modifying honey. To be exact the hydroxy groups of the disaccharides are modified and a quaternary cationic polymer is formed. The positive charge of honeyquat allows it to bind to our negatively charged hair (the damaged areas of hair tend to be negatively charged) and skin to offer moisturizing and conditioning. Honeyquat has humectant activity twice that of glycerin. It is moisturizing, and conditioning reduces hair static and protects against damaging chemicals like chlorine - if you’re an avid swimmer.
Plantaserv E
Plantaserv E is a cosmetic preservative offering you broad-based protection against bacteria, yeasts, and mold fungi. It is a unique formulation with multi-functional actions, offering many beneficial uses in cosmetic products. It is made up of a combination of phenoxyethanol; paraben-free ether alcohol that is naturally derived from green tea synthesized in a lab and ethylhexylglycerin; a natural preservative obtained from glycerine. Its purpose is to act as a surfactant, a deodorizing agent, and a skin-conditioning agent.
Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside
Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is an anionic surfactant derived from fatty alcohols and glucose of plant origin. In addition to being an excellent, gentle cleansing surfactant, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside is also a highly effective solubilizing agent for essential oils and fragrances as well as cationic surfactants. Due to this dual purpose, it is an excellent agent for increasing the foaming capacity in skincare and haircare products.
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate
Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate is a water-soluble, coconut-derived, surfactant that also happens to be sulfate-free. Not to be confused with similar-sounding sodium lauryl sulfate, this ingredient is an incredibly mild surfactant and is considered to be one of the safest on the market. It has proven to be mild and gentle. This is because it is a large molecule ingredient, which means it cannot penetrate the skin; and therefore, not irritate it either.
Olivem 300
Olivem300 is a naturally-derived cold process emulsifier based on olive oil chemistry. It is a functional lipid with sebum-recovering activities. This means it delivers and sustains skin hydration. It is an ester with strong emollient and lubricant properties that offers distinctive skin smoothness and long-term moisturizing effects. It serves as a solubilizing aid for essential oils. It is environmentally friendly because its majority composition is nature-derived ingredients.
Emulsifying Wax C20
INCI: Cetearyl Alcohol & Ceteareth 20.
Ceteareth-20 is a ‘fatty alcohol’. Ceteareths are made from Cetearyl alcohol, a blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol, which are natural fatty acids from coconut oil. It is used in cosmetics as a stabilizer to thicken an oil and water emulsion and keep it from separating, and as a foaming agent. These fatty alcohols, are absolutely non-irritating and can be exceptionally beneficial for skin, helping to soften and soothe.
BTM’s 50
Also known as Behentrimonium Methosulfate, it is a conditioning emulsifier. It’s a vegetable-based quaternary ammonium salt that comes from rapeseed. Many times, it is confused for being a chemical due to the ‘sulfate’ included in its name. But the reality is that while Sulfates are irritants for the skin, BTMS-50 is a conditioning agent that works to provide moisture to the skin.
Rice Bran Oil
Phytosterols are naturally present in many oils but Rice Bran Oil has them in high concentrations when compared to other oils. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe and heal your skin and can help with skin conditions like psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema. Rice bran oil is a wonderful natural moisturizer for your skin. It’s easily absorbed by the skin due to a combination of high concentrations of vitamin E and fatty acids which penetrate deep into your skin and help keep it hydrated.
Shea Butter
The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in Shea Butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin. One compound, lupeol cinnamate, was found to reduce skin inflammation and even potentially help avoid skin mutations. This also makes it beneficial for some people with acne. Shea aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long-term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening.
Sucragel
INCI: Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Aqua, Sucrose Laurate, Sucrose Stearate.
100% vegetable origin (from sugars and coconut oil) emulsifier and oil thickener. Safe, mild, and if you’re looking for a preservative-free cleanser, this is the ingredient to look for. Its main function is to emulsify the oil into a gel-like consistency. This way no preservatives are needed in such formulas due to the omission of water. Sucragel enables the formulator to make oily gels that instantly turn to milk in contact with water. Skin is twice as hydrated 2 hours after using a Sucragel-based cleanser compared to using a moisturising SLES cleanser, and will remain significantly hydrated after 8 hours.
Sweet Almond Oil
Sweet Almond Oil is a potent essential oil used for treating dry and sun-damaged skin and hair. It is also sometimes used for lightening the skin, acting as a gentle cleanser, preventing acne, strengthening the nails, and helping with hair loss. It’s extracted through an oil distillation process, or can also be extracted with an almond kernel press. This concentrated oil is packed with saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats, the latter two in notably higher levels than the former. This oil also contains high levels of fatty acids and has been used for centuries to treat skin diseases, namely, eczema and psoriasis. High in vitamin E, vitamin K, and essential B-complex vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B6, and folate.
Vitamin E Oil
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble compound mainly found in certain plant oils and also in the leaves of green vegetables. Wheat germ oil is one plant oil that is especially high in vitamin E. Vitamin E is both a nutrient as well as an antioxidant. As an antioxidant, it is known for protecting the body from free radicals that can wreak havoc on our health, both internally and externally. Vitamin E, also sometimes called the “skin vitamin,” has excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and skin healing properties, which make it a great natural remedy for various skin and hair concerns. It helps relieve skin conditions such as; eczema, Psoriasis and may prevent or minimize the appearance of scars. Because vitamin E oil can moisturize and soothe dry, flaky skin, it may help to relieve the burning and itching that result from sunburn.
Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides
Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides are considered to be a more natural alternative to other emollients and texture enhancers. This is why it is often used in the natural or clean beauty industry. Caprylic/capric triglycerides also have the added benefit of acting as an antioxidant which allows caprylic/capric triglycerides to be used as a mild preservative, minimizing the need for more intense preservatives to improve the shelf life and safety of products. They also have added benefits to the skin such as supporting hydration and softening the appearance of the skin. CCT Oil is often mistakenly referred to as fractionated coconut oil. However, they are different ingredients, both made from coconut oil. Caprylic Acid as an antioxidant helps to neutralize free radicals that are produced during oxidation. Oxidation is a natural process in the body that can be increased by exposure to environmental factors such as smoking, the sun, and diet. Free radicals have been linked with the aging process.
